Woodside Primary School SAPSASA Sports
At WPS students have the opportunity to participate in a range of school based, district and state wide sporting competitions.
School based sport - Student leaders organise an annual netball competition throughout the year for all age groups.
We also have sporting clinics that are run by outside agencies. Recently these have included cricket, football and tag rugby and have been offered to all age groups.
Our annual Sports Day is always a highlight.
District sport - The school competes in the annual district athletics, swimming and cross-country competitions. Students that are turning 10 years old during that year or older are eligible for these competitions.
Students in Years 6 and 7 also have the opportunity to tryout for the Hills District team in a number of sports such as netball, tennis, softball, soccer, football and cricket. These teams then compete in the state championships.
Students in Years 6/7 also participate in the annual Uraidla Carnival, which has more of a ‘come and try’ atmosphere rather than a competitive one. Currently football (boys), soccer (mixed) and netball (girls) are the sports that students can choose from.
State level sport - More recently the school has entered teams in the state orienteering championships.
Depending on student interest, we have also entered teams in the state wide girls netball, mixed netball, beach volleyball and indoor volleyball competitions.
