Woodside Primary School

About Us

From the Principal

Situated in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, Woodside Primary School is a high performing government primary school with a rich history and strong connection to community. Our vision is to inspire our learners to be confident, creative, active global citizens of the future. Students are supported to achieve their personal best in their academic, social, emotional and physical pursuits. We endeavour to connect our learners’ interests, questioning skills and learner dispositions with relevant real-world problem-solving experiences using a balance of explicit and inquiry-based teaching and learning.

Our staff are highly dedicated and work closely in teams to develop and deliver quality learning programs for our students. Our students are friendly, cooperative and empowered learners who embrace challenge in their learning.

We are passionate about building teacher and leadership capacity, through research-based professional learning and a commitment to professional learning communities. Together with our Leadership team and our caring and committed teachers and staff, we have developed mutually respectful relationships between students, parents and families to build a culture of collaboration by encouraging communication, consultation, high expectations and positive partnerships between school and home.

We invite you to join us for a school tour to share what our school has to offer. For more information, please organise a time to meet with me for a guided tour and to personally discuss your child’s educational requirements.

Cheers,

Cassie Ackland,
Principal

Parent Involvement

We welcome families into our school and we encourage them to be involved in their children’s learning. Parent participation at any level in the school is greatly valued by us as it enhances the quality of the educational programs and to that end, I urge you to consider to take an active role, no matter how small, in some facet of school life.

Our success is built on a strong and active school community of students, parents and teachers, who all value the same high standards of education and creative and intellectual endeavour.

We see parents as partners in our work and hope you will become very much part of our community and fully involved in your child’s achievements.

ICT
ICT equipment is available for staff and students in a central computer area in the library and in classrooms. Three fleets of laptops are available for classroom use. Each teacher is also issued with an iPad and an additional 60 have been purchased for student use with robotics, Minecraft for Education and other classroom based apps.

All learning spaces are equipped with interactive whiteboards and internet connectivity is achieved across the entire school through a robust, reliable wireless network. We also use ICT in an innovative way to communicate with our families through an App called Seesaw.

Learning

On behalf of the parents, staff and students, I would like to welcome you to Woodside Primary School. Through the hard work and dedication of the Staff, we aim to provide an educational and social environment that nurtures and challenges each child and encourages them to reach their full potential.

We achieve this by having high expectations of the students and providing them a safe, happy and trusting environment in which to challenge themselves.

Woodside Primary is built on a strong and active school community of students, parents and teachers, who all value the same high standards of education and creative and intellectual endeavour.

Our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience underpin all that we do. We look forward to working with you to provide the best possible education for your child in our care.

Facilities
All teaching areas along with a Gymnasium and canteen are new due to a redevelopment of the school that was completed in 2008.

Since then the school has received Federal Government funding (BER) and this has been used to build a new library and student toilets, to refurbish the admin block and staff room.

The overall result is that the school is brand new. We are currently looking at redesigning our outdoor learning areas to include a kitchen/garden programme, a series of nature play spaces and a ‘loose parts’ playpod.
